EVENT: DR: Healdsburg 2017
EVENT DATE: Oct 28, 2017
My dear mother-in-law Susan–“Bubbe” to my sons–was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in March 2017. She's been in treatment and fighting ever since but as too many people know well, has a long road ahead of her. She’s in great hands with her medical team in Sweden and my father-in-law Sven (“Farfar” to the little people in my house), a level of care we’re so grateful for but quite a ways from our home in the Bay Area.
Since we can’t be with each other every day I decided to dust off my very dusty running shoes to train for and–all gods willing–run the Healdsburg ½ marathon as a show of support and love for our sweet Bubbe. I haven’t been a runner in some time and facing a “long road” and taking on my own challenge as Susan faces her feels fitting. And, perhaps most importantly, I hope to raise LOTS OF money to benefit the Lung Cancer Foundation so that the road to recovery may be shorter and less treacherous in the future. Anything you can give is so, so appreciated!
