BENEFITING: Bonobo Conservation Initiative
15,000 bonobos. 15,000 supporters. And it starts with you!
There are as few as 15,000 bonobos left in the wild. Our goal is to get 15,000 incredible humans in 2017—one for every bonobo—to help this endangered species survive and thrive for generations to come. Let's get 5,000 supporters by World Bonobo Day, 2/14/17! Will you be one?
What’s a bonobo? Good question—and a huge hurdle when it comes to saving their lives. Though they are our closest living relatives (along with chimpanzees), not many people know about these intelligent, loving, playful great apes. We need to get the word out before it’s too late!
The Bonobo Conservation Initiative (BCI) is a small NGO doing big things in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, home to the world’s entire population of bonobos. So far, BCI and partners have helped protect 9 million acres of the Congo rainforest—with more on the way! Take a look at our Crowdrise profile page to learn how we work with communities to preserve rainforest, protect bonobos, and empower local Congolese leadership.
Maybe you don’t live in the DRC. This work still has a direct impact on your life. Protecting bonobos means preserving the world’s second largest rainforest, and preserving rainforest means mitigating climate change—that’s a win for all life on the planet!
We need you to keep this work going strong!
