Books For The Chicuchas Wasi School for Girls
Organized by: milla sanchez-regalado
This fundraiser was inspired by a young girl's love of reading, and a dream to help empower girls around the world with books.
What started as her school project, has turned into a realization that one person can make a difference, and that together we can change the world!
Milla, a California tween bookworm, has made it her mission to help raise books for the girls at the Chicuchas Wasi School in Cusco, Peru. For generations, women in this part of the world have been victims of human rights violations, denied access to education, devalued because they are female, and not given an opportunity to break free from a cycle of violence, oppression, and extreme poverty.
By hosting local book drives after school, this 9yr old has been collecting new and gently used children's books to ship across the globe to Peru.
With your help and generous donations, she can cover the shipping cost and purchase additional Spanish books for the young girls at the Chicuchas Wasi School. These children are first in their families to attend school. They are learning in their native dialect and also English and Spanish, which is why we need books in both languages; and as we all know, books are knowledge and knowledge is power - let's empower these girls and give them the opportunity to become a strong female presence in the world! Every dollar counts!
