Boone's Mustang Connection
Organized by: Boone Mooneyham
In recent years I have learned of the plight of the wild mustang, and as a horse/animal lover, I am worried about the future of these animals. I don't know any good answers to the problem, however the horses need to be thought of and cared for. I am a good trainer and love horses. In the passed 18 mo. I have gentled 20 mustangs and got them good homes, and have people asking for more. Here in the Southeast there is a great demand for these wonderful horses.
My goal is to build barns and pens enough to handle 150 at a time and have enough people working for this to get them gentled and adopted out. There are 45 acres next to the facility I have now that is for sale and would fit with where I am at now.Monies raised would help buy tractors, fencing, even feed and hay. I also would like to start a program where soldiers with PTSD come here and learn natural horsemanship and adopt a mustang to take home. This program will take able bodied men and women with PTSD and pair them with a mustang to gentle, this has shown to be very beneficial to both human and horse.I have seen first hand what an impact mustangs have on people that are dealing with different disorders. Horses made a great impact on my life because about 4 years ago I adopted my first horse and he saved my life. I was dignosed with type 2 diabetes, medication was having an adverse reaction on my body and caused me to loose a lot of muscle mass and my joints were hurting so bad that I could not even raise my arms. I started to research training and watched different training shows on tv and started working with my newly adopted horse. Through this workout, I started regaining use of my arms and building up muscle that had been lost. I was actually getting good at training and my wife encourged me to start training professionally and that brings us up to the present.I feel that I am duty bound to pay it forward by getting as many mustangs adopted and help people to understand them and train them and this will heal the people as well as get these wonderful horses good homes.
