BENEFITING: Boston Medical Center
EVENT DATE: Jul 31, 2016
Team BMC is comprised of hearty and dedicated athletes who swim, bike and run through South Boston, representing Boston Medical Center and its mission of exceptional care, without exception. Teammates unite to tackle this courageous feat and support BMC's comprehensive treatment programs for young adults who have begun to experiment with substances in the hopes of preventing addiction, as well as patients who have already developed a substance use disorder. All funds raised from Team BMC’s participation in the Boston Triathlon support CATALYST Clinic, Center for Addiction Treatment for AdoLescents/Young adults who use SubsTances.
Substance abuse is on the rise. In Massachusetts, there are four times more deaths from opioid overdose in 2014 than there were deaths from motor vehicle accidents, and nationally there has been an 108% increase in heroin use in 18 to 25-year-olds. BMC has a strong tradition of providing high quality, innovative addiction services for adults, including clinical care, education and research. The new adolescent program will build upon these existing strengths and expand the provision of care to adolescents, young adults and families.
Thank you for supporting Boston Medical Center in our mission to provide exceptional care, without exception!
