I've completed the Dublin (Ireland) Marathon, the New York Marathon and an Ironman Triathlon...but running through the finish line on Boylston Street has always been a goal that seemed impossible at this point in my life.
The events of last year cast a shadow over this storied race, and furthered my desire to one day participate in this event. I was fortunate enough to have been offered - and accepted - an invitational entry into the marathon...and I'm determined to use this once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference.
I'll be raising funds for several charities...including Roswell Park Cancer Research Center, which holds a very important meaning to me. It's my hope that I'll have met my full fundraising goal by the time I step to the starting line in April. This is my own way of giving back...of standing up to those who try to create terror...of helping Boston show it's determined spirit...and a milestone birthday gift to myself (I'll turn 40 in June!!).
Whether you can make a donation...send some words of encouragement...or even join me in Boston to celebrate...thank you for your support!
