I've completed the Dublin (Ireland) Marathon, the New York Marathon and an Ironman Triathlon...but running through the finish line on Boylston Street has always been a goal that seemed impossible at this point in my life.
The events of last year cast a shadow over this storied race, and furthered my desire to one day participate in this event. I was honored to have been offered - and accepted - an invitational slot for the marathon...and I'm determined to use this once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference.
I'll be raising funds for several charities...including the Pat Tillman Foundation. The organization carries forward Pat's legacy by giving military veterans and spouses who embody those principles the educational tools and support to reach their fullest potential as leaders, no matter how they choose to serve.
It's my hope that I'll have met my full fundraising goal by the time I step to the starting line in April. It's my own way of giving back...of benefiting an organization that means a great deal to me...of standing up to those who try to create terror...of helping Boston show it's determined spirit...and a milestone birthday gift to myself (I'll turn 40 in June!!).
Whether you can make a donation...send some words of encouragement...or even join me in Boston to celebrate...thank you for your support!
