Because we love running and want to encourage those around us to lead healthy lifestyles we have chosen a local non-profit organization in Fort Wayne, IN (Rachel's town).
The Mission of Fort Wayne Trails is:
"Enhancing our vibrant and healthy community by developing an ever-expanding network of trails."
Rachel and her family use these trails to run, bike and play!
Our Boston Marathon Story (it's a long one!):
Sara started running in highschool and asked Dale to run his first 10K on Thanksgiving Day in Highland, IN. He would never say "No", so he laced up his L.A. Gear hightops and put on shorts over sweatpants (!) and crossed the finish line, never looking back! Sara and Dale ran Sunburst, Chicago (2x), Big Sur, and many others. In fact, Dale has completed the most marathons of the three. Rachel made her running debut at Marine Corps Marathon (Oct '13) then again at Disney World three months later. She trains hard and always has a positive attiude! Sara had her sights on Boston for a while and signed up for Lehigh Valley marathon September 2014. She needed 3:35:00 and finished in 3:34:17, which met the Qualifying Standard for BAA. Dale and Rachel put in place a plan to run with her by joining the John Hancock Invitational Runner program. But after the registration process, the qualifing standards were lowered to 3:33:58 and Sara was shut out. Dale and Rachel hooked her up with the amazing opportunity to be a JH charity runner.
Now we would like to give back to the community by raising money for a direct improvment to the quailty of life in Fort Wayne, IN! Thank you!
