Not such a flattering picture is it? Check back often for more pictures of me having fun running.
What can I say other than I enjoy a challenge - running a marathon has been a goal of mine for the past 5 years. I made a promise to myself to complete the grueling 26.2 mile objective by the time I turned 35. It looks like I'll be exactly 1 month late on that promise but I couldn't have chosen a better race or a better cause.
How great is it when your goals in life happen to align with a great cause like the Boston Medical Center (BMC) and their mission to provide top level care regardless of ability to pay - removing the decision of whether the care you need is the care you can afford.
So help me accomplish my goal of raising $10,000 for the BMC, completing my first Marathon and getting into marrying shape for this next summer. I'll do the heavy lifting here with the running and the training - if you can help out a little with the fundraising we can both help build a better tomorrow for all.
26.2 MILES TO A NEW BMC!
For the past 12 years, Boston Medical Center has proudly participated in Boston’s historic Marathon, raising more than $2.16 million for the hospital. In 2014, BMC was fortunate to have our biggest team in history, comprised of 107 runners and led by honorary team captain, actor Kevin Spacey. But the true stars last year were our runners who pounded the pavement, crossed the finish line and helped raise more than $1.1 million, in honor of the victims and marathon survivors of 2013. We are grateful to John Hancock Financial and the Boston Athletic Association for making Team BMC possible and for recognizing the unique role BMC plays in keeping our city strong.
This year, philanthropic efforts from Team BMC will be dedicated to our Building the New BMC campaign which will include construction of a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department for our region. Boston Medical Center has the busiest Emergency and Trauma Center in New England with 130,000 patients per year—more than two-thirds of Boston’s major trauma cases annually. Understanding that trauma does not discriminate and anyone may need our services in a moment’s time, Team BMC stands committed to ensuring Boston Medical Center remains one of the very best trauma centers in the country. By donating to Team BMC you are showing support for the entire city of Boston.
Thank you for supporting Boston Medical Center in our mission to provide exceptional care, without exception every day!
