BENEFITING: Boston Medical Center
ORGANIZER: Boston Medical Center
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I am so excited to have the opportunity to run the 119th Boston Marathon on behalf of Boston Medical Center. I had the privilege to run as a member of Team BMC in last year’s 2014 Boston Marathon and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
BMC is a hospital that I will be forever thankful for. As many of you know, my mom suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury in a bicycle accident in the summer of 2012. Because of the extent of her injury, she was Med-Flighted to BMC. Spending eight days there, most of which were in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, I witnessed firsthand the treatment and care that BMC is capable of and it is nothing short of amazing. I’ll never be able to thank the staff enough for what they did that week. They saved my mother’s life.
As a member of the 2104 Marathon team, I got a further glimpse into BMC’s mission of providing exceptional care without exception. The opportunity to meet staff members and patients, both past and present, was incredible and only deepened my gratitude for the care and treatment that BMC provides day in and day out. I am honored to once again raise money for such an extraordinary and deserving hospital.
Last year as a team, we raised more than $1.1million in honor of the victims and Marathon survivors of 2013. This year, our fundraising efforts will be dedicated to BMCs “Building the New BMC” campaign which includes construction of a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department. Boston Medical Center has the busiest Emergency and Trauma Center in New England with 130,000 patients per year- more than two-thirds of Boston’s major trauma cases annually. Team BMC stands committed to ensuring Boston Medical Center remains one of the very best trauma centers in the country.
Thank you so much in advance for your donation and I hope to see you along the course in April!
