Training update: As part of my marathon training, I am happy to say that I have reached my goal weight, losing nearly forty pounds since my heaviest point. Looking forward to continuing my training and reaching all of my milestones as we approach the marathon!
Why I run for Team BMC:
1. The Boston Medical Center (BMC) saved my family from losing a loved one to a heart attack.
Over 40 years ago, my great-uncle Dave was taken to the BMC when he had a heart attack. The BMC saved his life, treating him regardless of his ability to pay, and because of that Uncle Dave lived to meet his great-grandchild.
2. Boston is close to my heart.
The city where I had my first kiss is now the city where I'm going to run my first marathon. With family in Boston, my boyfriend at MIT, and my running partner an MIT alum, I am super excited to give back to this city that has given so much to me.
3. The BMC embodies the principles I was brought up with.
I grew up in a medical household - literally; my family's medical practice is attached to our house. Growing up in that environment, I have seen first-hand how important having access to affordable health care is. The BMC encompasses what my family has taught me my whole life - everyone deserves exceptional care without exception.
