NEPAL IS IN CRISIS and SHE NEEDS YOU.
The Greater Boston Nepalese community and the International community at large, are deeply concerned to hear of the disastrous earthquake that struck Kathmandu on Saturday, causing loss of thousands of lives and widespread damage to buildings and property.
Beyond the human toll, the country has also lost many of its infrastructure causing delays in relief efforts reaching outside the capital to remote parts of Nepal, and within Kathmandu as well. The strong aftershocks have brought fear and anxiety to a devastated population that has been traumatized with the tragedy.
Many major monuments and historic temples, including a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites are either completely destroyed or severely damaged.
In order to raise money and collect donations for the victims of the tragedy, many Nepali communities and international agencies are coming together in this collective effort for a cause that's near and dear to every Nepali scattered across the globe, and to everyone else who has, in any way, shape, or form been affiliated to Nepal or anything related to Nepal.
Because we understand the value of every dollar/pound/sterling you earn since we all share the same struggles, please be rest assured that every single dollar will be accounted for.
While our initial thought was to partner with a Red Cross and send relief to the ones who need it, after much discussion and thought with many community members and interntaional personnel, we have decided to collect the funds in a centralized location and then after thorough research find those grass root organizations and community movements that are on the grounds doing all they can to help their neighbors, help their countrymen. This is, what we beleive, will be the most effective way to reach out to those who have needs that are the most critical.
We are calling on all available resources in the Greater Boston area to engage in collecting donations and funds for the thousands of the 2015 earthquake victims so that we can immediately start providing relief and start the healing process and the rebuilding of the nation that is in ruins.
So please donate whatever you can because every last dollar will go a long way in the process of bringing life to normal for those who have been traumatized by the horror.
Also, for those of you who would like to donate cash, you can visit any Citizen Bank and donate to the following account number (GBNC - 1329884563). So please visit your nearby Citizen Bank and deposit whatever amount you can. And when you do make a deposit, please send us a message on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bostonnepalrelief or email at email@example.com or post it on our Facebook page so we can track every dollar you send us and ensure transparency and hold ourselves accountable for your generosity.
