Since 1966, Boston Partners in Education has contributed to the academic and personal achievement of Boston’s K-12 public school students by providing them with in-school volunteer support.
We mobilize volunteers (academic mentors) to help students fill gaps in their skills and knowledge, enabling them to meet and exceed academic expectations, build self-confidence, and stay in school. By putting academic mentors directly in classrooms, we're able to meet the students where they are to provide hands-on support. Our volunteers commit to one hour, once a week throughout the school year. This supplements the important work of our teachers--freeing them to concentrate on the other students who need their attention most.
Boston Partners in Education has a broad impact. During the 2013-2014 academic year, our 595 volunteers worked with nearly 4,000 K-12 students in 64 schools across Boston. Students in our programs read more books, pass standardized tests, improve their attendance, and raise their grades en route to on-time graduation.
We are proud to provide positive role models to developing minds, and to show our kids that their community believes in them. The services we provide help bolster all of Boston, nurturing a strong resilient group of future leaders. By helping children reach their full potential, we are investing in success.
