Ryan Petitti wrote -The day before the bombings at the Boston Marathon, April 14 2013, I ran my first ever marathon; it was the North Shore Marathon in Hawaii. I had moved to Hawaii in November 2011, having been born and raised in the Boston area. Watching the events of Marathon Monday unfold, I felt useless; not only was I exhausted from just completing a 26.2 mile course of my own, but I was 6,000 miles away from home. After hearing countless stories of the victims, I decided to show my support by running. Because it's spread out among different islands, Hawaii is one of the few states that offers multiple marathons within a year. Having already completed a marathon on the island of Oahu, I made the choice to run a marathon on each island that offers a full 26.2-mile course (Oahu-April 14, Big Island-June 23, Kauai-September 1, and Maui-September 22).
Please consider donating to my effort to raise $10,000. All proceeds will go to the One Fund Boston.
