Hello family, friends and colleagues,
NEVER SAY NEVER! I have always said in the past that people who run a marathon are absolutely crazy. Well then, you can officially call me CRAZY because I am doing it! I have always been a biker and not a runner. So I decided last April after the 2014 Boston Marathon it was my time to push myself and go beyond my limits. I am looking forward to participating in my first marathon on April 20th, 2015 which will be a privilege, since I will be running in honor of my dad and hero, Charles Patrick Dunn. My dad grew up in a poor family of five children in East Boston. With his family’s challenging circumstances, he dropped out of school in 7th grade to help support his parents and siblings. Although my dad did not earn a high school diploma, he understood the importance of an education and put himself through Welding school and along with his wife Nancy of 52 years, raised three loving children. Before my dad’s passing in 2012, he mentioned to me that he always regretted dropping out of school and not earning a high school diploma.
With that in mind, I became familiar with and intrigued by Bottom Line Inc. charity which was founded in 1997 to offer assistance to low-income and first generation students to attend college. I know my dad would be proud of me to be able to help underprivileged children, like him, have the resources and opportunity of a higher education.
LIFE IS A JOURNEY! It is my honor to be running in the 119th Boston Marathon in support of Bottom Line Inc. My goal is to raise $10,000 for the charity and I would like to thank you in advance for your donation and support!
