As one of the first in my family to graduate from college, and as the first in my family to earn my Master's degree, I am continually seeking meaningful ways to challenge myself and those around me to work harder, dream bigger and do more. I am running for the thinkers, dreamers and doers of tomorrow. I am running to show my brother, my niece, my students, my family, my friends, YOU, and ME that nothing is too big to accomplish when you have people that believe in you, when you work hard, and when you believe in yourself.
I am extremely excited and honored to take on this challenge for myself and for my students, and I want to thank everyone who has supported me in my journey thus far. I promise to train hard, to continually challenge myself and to do whatever it takes on my end to make this Marathon meaningful, but I cannot do it alone. I am asking for you to support me, and all of my students who are finding the value of hard work through persisting in their efforts.
Having gone through this process myself I intimately know the challenges my students face in applying to college, persevering through obstacles in college, and establishing themselves in the working world after college. For more information on the amazing work you are funding through supporting me, and Bottom Line, please keep reading below.
Bottom Line was founded in 1997 to help low-income and first-generation students get in to college, graduate from college, and go far in life. Since then, we have provided one-on-one guidance and mentoring to thousands of high school and college students. This year, we will be providing personalized support to over 3,000 students across Massachusetts and New York.
Bottom Line's 2015 Boston Marathon Team (Team Go Far) will run 26.2 miles on April 2oth as a way to contribute to our organization and the students we support. We're hoping to raise more than $120,000 this year through our marathon team, which will make a huge impact on our organization.
We hope you'll consider making a contribution to the team or a specific runner. Each member of Team Go Far has an interesting story and a personal motivation for our cause. We encourage you to get to know them.
Thank you. Whatever you can contribute will help our students get in, graduate, and go far!
