BENEFITING: AMERICAN ASSOCIATON OF ZOO KEEPERS
100% of all proceeds raised during this event go directly to rhino conservation projects. This includes conserving rhinos, their habitats, and hundreds of other endangered plants and animals in Africa and Asia. BFR contributes to the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) in Kenya as well as Action for Cheetahs in Kenya. In Africa, there are only 5,500 black rhinos in isolated populations, 20,405 southern white rhinos, and only 3 (yes, only 3) northern white rhinos, which can be found in captivity. In Asia, there are just over 3,000 greater one horned rhinos, less than 100 Javan rhinos, and fewer than 60 Sumatran rhinos in existence. Poaching and habitat loss have caused rhino numbers to decline dramatically (over 90%) since 1970.
