EVENT: Strike Out Bullying 2017
EVENT DATE: Jul 09, 2017
Hi Guys! I joined the event planning committee for a fundraising event called Strike Out Bullying.
Join my lane and help fundraise for Kelly.
Sawgrass Lanes 8501 N. University Drive, Tamarac, FL 33321
5 people per lane. Includes 2 drink tickets. Bowling shoes.
I am sponsoring Kelly, a 19 yr old sophmore Marketing major at University of Florida. She is volunteering as a summer intern with NVEEE. I chose Kelly because I conected with her application after I read it. I hope you will be inspired to join me in fundraising.
Have you ever been bullied?
"I was alienated and bullied in middle school by the "popular girls." My parents almost took me out of the school I had attending, since I was four years old, several times throughout the years and I was very unhappy for a long time. I had to keep my head high as I tried to fit in and be like the "other girls," but eventually I found my true friends and niche and I was able to graduate 8th grade and have a fresh start in life. High school changed everything for me and helped shape me into the person that I am today."
What leadership skills would you like to GAIN?:
"I would like to learn how to gain the control and respect of people who may not see me as someone that they need to listen to, even when I am in a leadership role. I am 19 years old, however I do look very young and I want people to understand that my size or appearance does not matter when it comes to my leadership ability, and that I am extremely capable."
Besides earning service hours, why is it important to you to attend a conference like PALS?:
"It is important to me to attend a conference like PALS because it is a life-changing experience and I love being given the opportunity to help those in need. I have always had a passion for volunteering and people, I want to make a difference and I hate seeing pain in other people's eyes and emotions. I have struggled with a lot of issues in these past few years and I want to use what I have learned to help someone else make a positive change in their life. PALS is a community and I wouldn't trade being a part of this loving and welcoming community for anything."
On Sunday, July 9th join us at “Brunch and Bowl to Strike out Bullying” and help raise money to support NVEEE's Peace Ambassador Leadership Summit (PALS) for high school students. Whether you are a young professional just entering the workforce, or someone more seasoned and ready for retirement, we can all agree on one thing, BULLYING HURTS! This is an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of young people in South Florida schools by connecting with other young professionals and network for a good cause.
Your donation will help cover the cost of housing, select meals, t-shirts, and tuition for at-risk and low income students to attend PALS, a 7-day leadership conference for students who commit to being upstanders instead of bystanders when it comes to bullying and harassment.
