The Art Van Challenge Continues
June 08, 2016
BENEFITING: BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF PORTER COUNTY INC
ORGANIZER: BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF PORTER COUNTY INC
A few months ago I toured Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County's Chesterton location. I was so impressed with the organization that I joined the Board of Directors. They are embarking on a major expansion at their Chesterton location as they are at capacity. They average 180 kids per day. Because of the Club, children in our community have a safe place to attend after school to participate in academic, athletic, arts, computer programs and other activities. For the children receiving academic assistance, the average reading score improved 1.9 grade levels and math 1.6 grade levels. Their mission is to inspire and enable the youth of our communities to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
Serving Porter County youth since 1971, Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County focuses on academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles of youth at four Club units located in Valparaiso, Portage, South Haven, and Chesterton. Additionally, a quality and affordable before and after-school childcare program, Kidstop, is offered to community families at nine elementary school locations. Nearly 5,000 youth annually, aged kindergarten through high school, benefit from programs and services that promote and enhance the positive development of boys and girls.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County is participating in the ArtVan Charity Challenge. The charity that raises the most money the week of May 24-31 could win an additional $15,000. I have set a personal goal of $5,000.
Will you help in in achieving this goal for Club kids? Thank you for your consideration.
