The Barrio Planta Project (BPP) is an education initiative created to empower low-income children and adults lving in Nicaragua. Through supplementary schooling with an emphasis on English as a Second Language and the creative arts, BPP provides means for international communication and exposure to enriching cultural activities that enhance confidence and facilitate community development.
Theater encourages open expression, heightens perspective and enhances confidence. Every January, BPP offers a six-week theater workshop for our students to provide positive recreation while they are on break from school. In the past we have done things like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Grease, and Rainbow Fish along with an assortment of music-based workshops. This year's workshop will be The Wizard of Oz. In order to make this possible we will need your help. Because this play is so iconic, we want to do it right! Our goal is to raise $1,500 in the next month to cover the costs of the play including scripts, fabric and materials for costumes, set design supplies and production costs for the presentation, which is free for families and members of the community to attend. Please support our students and help us keep theater alive in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua by donating to our campaign.
