Benefiting: The City of Hope Bike for Hope 2017
I am the owner of Pirie Mckie and Associates, a Canadian national sales agency based in Toronto.
I am participating in the 500 mile (800 km) Ride for Hope is support of the City of Hope cancer research initiatives. The ride is a way for me to recognize the many people I know that have endured and are battling cancer. It was almost 40 years ago my Aunt Gwen passed away of breast cancer. My father- in-law, Ron Fortier, and brother-in-law, Jim Flindall, both have battled prostate cancer. My sister-in-law, Michelle Wheeler, has survived breast cancer twice and a business associate Jen Covert is currently battling. Clyde Peterson, my business partner and friend of over 30 years passed away from bladder cancer 12 months ago.
Seeing close friends and family affected by this disease has motivated me to do anything I can to raise awareness as well as raise money in the effort to find a cure. The City of Hope is a leader in cancer research and pioneering treatments and I am honoured to be riding in support of this cause.
