When we decided to make the OK 200 about more than just a crazy bike ride, it became a real purposeful event for me. At first I wasn’t sure about the cause of Human Trafficking. Why not try to raise money for something closer to home, like fighting cancer or ALS? I have lost people I love to both of those horrible diseases. Then I started to learn more about human trafficking, and realized that not only does this stuff really exist, but it is a huge problem! And it’s not just a problem in far-away places, this is happening in the city I live in! Little girls as young as 5 years old are being stolen from, and even given away by their families for money! As a father, this breaks my heart and brings tears to my eyes as I can’t imagine what they endure on a daily basis. This ride has not only shown me the problem, but more importantly that I can do more than just raise money. I can raise awareness. I can share the story of hope. I can directly support those on the front lines. I can ride so that they can be free.
