EVENT DATE: Oct 18, 2012
Marina Jessop, 38, is the former winner of the Oprah book club award (2005) and has been pursuing her undergraduate degree during the past six years while commuting 350 miles round trip to Arizona State. Marina is a single parent of two teenage boys and works full-time in Show Low, AZ.
Marina recently was chosen as the final recipient for a scholarship through the Rotary (Eclub of the Southwest) to continue her studies in 2013 for a master's degree in social work in Cape Town, South Africa and will also be required to lead a community project that helps prevent human trafficking. This project aligns with Marina's life-long goal to serve others and stop this horrible and illegal activity.
Recently Marina has had some big challenges that may prevent her from moving forward. While these challenges are external and well beyond her control, they're creating a short-fall of funds that will support her two boys while she's in South Africa. Simply put, the financial support Marina had been receiving for her boys is no longer available and without support she is unable to go
What You Can Do: Please donate (one-time pledge) to help support Marina's sons so she can continue her passion to help serve others and make this world a better and safer place to live. One hundred percent of the donations will go directly to the living expenses of her sons next year.
