We are the Branciforte Bees. Our Middle School Garden is in need of funds to offer gardening classes to our sixth, seventh & eighth graders. Help our students learn to grow healthy food, prepare nutritious recipes, and understand where their food comes from. Since the garden's inception two years ago, students plant and eat healthy crops, such as tomatoes, carrots, beets, corn, lettuce, pumpkins, zucchini, and strawberries to name a few. We have found that students look forward to learning and working in the garden and enthusiastically eat what they prepare in our cooking classes.
This grant will fund the ongoing garden program to support a garden teacher who works with students to plant seedlings, weed, water and fertilize vegetables, fruits and flowers. All these crops are harvested and used in our cooking classes as well as the school cafeteria.
Gardening in Middle School is rare. This is a well-regarded school program and a beautiful garden which is thriving due to having been managed and tended by our experienced garden teacher and our hard working students. Your generous support will help us provide funds to keep our garden teacher and make our school, neighborhood and world more beautiful and healthy.
We appreciate your donation!
