Brandi Reyna Greggies Widow
"I carry your heart with me. (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it." E.E. Cummings
Greg is such an inspiration not only to myself but to so many other people. I fell in love first with his heart and his genuine love for other people. He loved with all his heart and so many people loved him as well.
He and I shared the kind of love that few people get to experience in their lifetime. Hes my soulmate and we complete each other. When I lost Greg at the age of 25, 2 months before our wedding day, in a tragic car accident; I was NOT expecting to be a widow, atleast not so soon. The thought of being a widow didn’t even cross my mind, I was thinking in our old age, but 25? Here I was one day putting the finishing touches on wedding plans and debating with my mother what bouquet I’m going to have, not caring if it matched everything else or not and the next day making funeral arrangements and debating with his mother what shirt to put him in because I wanted him in this pretty blue shirt and blue is his favorite color.
One of the things I admire most about Greg is HE LIVES OUT Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Greg lived that with every fiber of his being.
He inspires me to love as Christ loves more and more with each day, and to live life with the fruits of the spirit. I thought I loved Greg then but I love him even more now. Christ is our ultimate example, and Greg sought Christ in everything that he did. He is the greatest man I have ever known. He definitely had a “life well lived and a life well loved”. And I was so blessed by Greggie and to be able to call him mine and vice versa. We taught each other so much in the little time we had together on this earth.
After 15 months and 22 days, I am slowly trying to pick up the broken pieces of life and put them back together, with a sad, tired and broken heart. Trying to create a new life with the person that I am now, with parts of the old me and the new me. I still have difficult days, but I have a purpose and eventually I will get to the point where I am functioning and serving God and his purpose for my life.
My hope is to advocate and bring awareness for Unwedded Widows everywhere and shed some light on our unique journey in the widowhood community.
Im very honored to be able to attend Camp Widow in August and I think that it is a very great opportunity for any one who has lost their beloved partner in life. I look forward to learning from and sharing in a community with others who “get it”. And your tax deductible donation will help myself and others in the widow/er community rebuild our lives through the Camp Widow program. Your support WILL change lives.
