Twenty-four hours of soccer. Yeah soccer. Proceeds go to colon and genetic colon cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, and treatment. Yeah, colon cancer.
Here’s what you probably don’t know:
Colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer overall, and #1 cancer killer among non-smokers. Seriously. Almost as many women die of colon cancer as breast cancer. Not joking. So if you think it’s an old man’s disease, think again. People under age 50 getting colorectal cancer has risen 4% a year for decades.
AliveAndKickn is doing something about it. Together with the Hackensack University Medical Center, we’re doing an AliveAndKickathon!! The John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center is consistently one of the top cancer centers in the country. A portion of net proceeds go directly to HUMC.
Here’s what you can do:
Register for the event. Play an hour. Play another hour. Bring your friends, kids, parents, and grandparents. Bring your team, fraternity, sorority, neighbors. Get sponsors to donate. Volunteer.
$30 gets you an hour on the pitch, a soccer bag, a way-cool AliveAndKickn t-shirt, ANK bracelet (you’ll actually be proud to wear our swag around town after). So you get like $193 worth of stuff, and get to play for an hour, all for $30. Obviously we’re gonna have players of the same age groups play against each other, but level of skill is irrelevant. Seriously, even if you suck, no one will judge you. Well, maybe some will judge you. This is fun for a cause. Special goalie shirts for those willing to stand between the pipes. Knuckleheads who play in the middle of the night get bonus points. Kids who show up at the crack of dawn get temporary tattoos. Even if you don’t play, you can still fundraise and participate.
