EVENT DATE: Mar 11, 2016
Over the last 30 years the YMCA of Greater Louisville and Jefferson County Public Schools have been collaborating to provide the YMCA Childcare Enrichment Program. Housed in JCPS schools, the CEP program provides Before & After school care to children throughout the county, as well as full-day care during all school breaks and In-Service days.
In celebration of that partnership and in hopes of bringing funding and awareness to the program, I will be carrying 30 lbs for 30 miles on Friday March 11th, 2016 at Bates Elementary School from 7AM to 6PM.
Principal Alecia Dunn has graciously agreed to allow me to run at the school track from 7am until 6 pm to reach our goal along with each of P.E. teacher Ms. Stone's classes beside me on the day of the event. Bates has been a substantial supporter of the CEP program for many years and their willingness to be a part of this event exemplifies the true partnership between JCPS and the YMCA.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, especially donations made per mile...I like a challenge! All of the funds raised through this event will go straight to our YMCA School- Age Childcare Giving Campaign. This money will directly aide with our financial assistance program for our families in need. Help us help our youth with the benefits of Out of School Time, by providing them with the opportunity for structured, educational, and physical activity on a daily basis!
Please share this story, join me on March 11th, or at a workout along the way, and most of all consider donating to this great cause! For more information and updates please like and follow us on Facebook at YMCA Healthy Actions. Thank you!
