Brandons Surprise Car Fund
Organized by: Sydney Williams
I have been dating my boyfriend, Brandon, for a little over three years now. In that time I have watched him go from a dorky sophomore to a strong, caring high school graduate. He is always putting others before himself, especially his family. Sadly, Brandon's home life isn't all that great. His mother had him at the age of 16, and his real father wasn't around much. His mother also had 3 more children later, his half-siblings (now ages 9, 11, and 14), that he cares for more than anything. Their family isn't a very functional one though. Both of his parents (his mother and step father) have low wage jobs trying to support 4 children. They work a lot, and Brandon was left with all the responsibility in his household, and put off everything, including getting his license, first job, etc. The living conditions in his home were also unbearable. The house reeked of cigarette smoke, there wasn't flooring in parts of the house and it was never clean. Brandon tried to stay so he could make sure his siblings were okay, but eventually he had to leave. He moved out in May of 2015. He now lives with his aunt and uncle, in a much safer, healthier environment. He helps his aunt with her 3 sons (ages 2 months, 1, and 3), and is now trying to look for a job. He hasn't been very successful. Where we live pedestrians basically don't exist, so you have to have a car to go just about anywhere, and since he has no car he needs something within walking distance. His aunt and uncle only have one vehicle, which his uncle has to use everyday to get to work. His aunt and uncle cannot help him anymore than they already have, because with 3 children they don't have much money, and his parents aren't going to give him anything, so that's what led me here. I need your help. Not having a car is preventing Brandon from making progress on starting his life. He is 18 years old with absolutely no money. He needs a car to get a job so he can start saving for school or for his first apartment. He has so much potential, and I love him to much to watch him sit there and put his life on hold scraping pennies together to save for a car. He has already had so many obstacles in life, and I just want to get this one out of his way. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Much love.
