What will the dogs at Big Dog Ranch Rescue be doing on Patriot’s Day, Monday, April 15th?
They will be cheering on Breah, a Harvard Law School student, who will be running to raise money for them in the Boston Marathon! Breah read the story about Black Jack, a German Shepherd who was stolen and used as a bait dog. When the folks at Big Dog Ranch Rescue found him, Black Jack had a severe neck laceration and a chain with a piece of raw meat was around his neck. He required immediate medical attention. The folks at Big Dog Ranch Rescue were able to locate his owner through his microchip. A tear-filled, joyful reunion with his dad, Robert Moreland, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran soon followed. Breah, along with so many of our followers, was so moved by the story that she made a contribution toward Black Jack’s medical care.
“His story is really touching, plus it really tugs at the heartstrings because who knows what the poor guy went through before BDRR was able to help him. All I can think is thank goodness he escaped from wherever he was or he’d most likely be dead by now. He must be one tough dog. And the role Black Jack has played in Robert Moreland’s life makes the story that much more meaningful”.
She then wondered if she could possibly help more dogs at the Ranch by trying to raise money for them during the Boston Marathon as she has done for other charities in the past.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue is pleased to announce that Breah will be racing for the dogs in Boston on April 15th. We will be following her progress and keeping our followers updated on Facebook. We will also be encouraging viewing parties, especially for those of you in Massachusetts and Maine who have the day off as a holiday! We would like for everyone to donate in support of Breah and the dogs, whether a dollar or a dollar a mile ($26.20)!
Patriot’s Day commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord that were fought back in 1775 about 15 miles from Boston. They were two of the earliest battles fought in the American Revolutionary War. Paul Revere is usually remembered for his midnight ride.
This year we will be focusing on Breah as she starts her journey around 10:30 am in an effort to raise money for the dogs and puppies at Big Dog Ranch Rescue in honor of Black Jack and retired USAF Sergeant Robert Moreland.
