1 in 67 women will develop ovarian cancer in their lifetime. Every 37 minutes, a woman in this country dies from ovarian cancer . . . Most could have survived. Each year close to half a million women are diagnosed globally with cervical cancer and of those who are diagnosed in the U.S., 32 percent of women will die in the five years following their diagnosis. Human papillomavirus, or HPV, is a lead cause of cervical cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, women who regularly get tested for HPV are the least likely to get cervical cancer. In the United States, HPV infection causes more than 96% of all cervical cancers, 93% of anal cancers, 64% of vaginal cancer. The facts might not be easy to face, but the great news is there are a variety of steps you can take to be proactive! Let’s beat those odds. On Sept 24, 2016 we will hosting the first TEAL 5K Pap Rally/Run in Broward County, Florida to bring awareness to the community and the people of South Florida. Make a donation to Teal Project or support one of our runners. You can make a wonderful contribution or on behalf of a loved one.
