Dale Farley, a 20+ year Navy veteran and avid outdoorsman, has been battling Mycobacterium Kansasii for several years. It is a respiratory illness he contracted during his 2 year deployment in the Persian Gulf. To make matters worse, a couple years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and just this year he was diagnosed with colon cancer. Even though the cancers are devastating enough, the doctors are more concerned about his lungs. In late August, we got word that our father Dale, was taken to the Angeles University Hospital in Angeles, Luzon Island, Philippines after he complained about bleeding and the inability to go to the bathroom. By the time we were able to contact him, he was in ICU and on a ventilator, and we were not sure if he was going to survive the night. With so many well wishers, prayers and the medical staff, he survived. Immediately, the doctors tried to remove a tumor from his colon, the size of a baby's head. They were unable to remove it because it was too large and could possibly cause massive bleeding. They performed a colostomy, had Dale undergo chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, and will attempt to remove the tumor at a later date. On September 6, Dale underwent a tracheostomy to help him breathe without a ventilator. He was taken out of ICU and seemed to be doing well. Then on September 15, he ran a high fever and stopped responding to people. On September 16, he was sent back to ICU and put back on the ventilator. The doctors said he had too much carbon dioxide in his blood. Right now, Dale is in urgent need of a noninvasive ventilator. The Hayek BCV or Biphasic Cuirass Ventilator is a noninvasive ventilator that works by sucking the diaphragm down and pushing air back out of the lungs. With this ventilator, he should be able to go home to heal and avoid continued hospital bills. He does have medical Insurance that covers 75% of his hospital bills and the ventilator. We were quoted 30,000 dollars for this ventilator. Dale would need to come up with 25% which is about 7,500 dollars. Along with your prayers and healing thoughts, we are asking for help to restore Dale's health as much as possible by helping ease the financial burden of some of his medical treatments and especially for the Biphasic Cuirass Ventilator. Your contribution will help cover the cost of Dale getting the ventilator, medical bills, medical treatments, medications, and any travel necessary for additional treatments. Dale has helped many people through their tough times and illnesses but found it difficult to ask for help for himself. The colon cancer diagnosis devastated him and it was almost too much to bear. Now that he sees hope with the ventilator, he is ready to conquer cancer. Dale Farley loved his work in the Navy. He loves to travel and explore. He loves the outdoors, hiking, and camping. He loves his little farm where he grows his own vegetables and raises chickens. He loves to tell his stories to anyone that will listen. Our prayer and wish is that our father will be able to get the ventilator he desperately needs and start breathing on his own again so that he can enjoy his farm, the fresh air, and tell his stories to his kids, grandkids, and everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read our fathers story and thank you for any donation, prayers, and sharing his story.
