Breezy the Golden girl is in training to be a Service Dog! She is learning so much and we are hopeful that she will be ready to go into her final training soon to be a mobility assistantance Dog! She will greatly improve the quality of life for her new person once she finishes her training! Breezy is being trained by us with MUCH assistance from A.C.T.S., a non-profit, ALL VOLUNTEER organization based out of North Conway, NH. www.assistancecanine.org A.C.T.S is an amazing group of people who all give so much of their time to every aspect of puppy raising and training, as well as personalized training for the new 'team' once a puppy is matched with his/her new person. On average it takes around 2 years for a puppy to be ready to be placed, all the while absorbing all the cost of feeding, & vet bills. That being said, ACTS relies solely on the donations from people just like you who are reading this! which brings me to the problem at hand. Breezy celebrated her 1st Birthday and as every puppy raiser can tell you, she started in a new phase of exploring and investigating. Unfortunately this resulted in Breezy getting into trash at a Family BBQ and eating a corn cob. Corn cobs are extremely dangerous for dogs and after closely monitoring Breezy, it was determined that she would need immediate emergency surgery to empty the contents of her stomach and hopefully catch the ' unknown mass' showing up on Ultrasound in her stomach before it entered her intestines. The surgery went better than expected and Breezy was home within 24 hours to recover from her major surgery! With all of this came a hefty price tag. Almost $3000.00, which to put in perspective is a little less than 1/2 of the entire allotted budget for ALL the ACTS puppies in training for the year. ( which is around 12 pups in various stages of their training!) Check out the ACTS website to see all of the pups who have gone on to do amazing things and help so many clients, and please consider donating to help defray the costs of Breezy's unexpected surgery and help her continue on her journey of training! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! All money donated is TAX-Deductible and goes DIRECTLY to ACTS!
