Hi friends -

Wanted to share this article about where your donations are being put to work from your support of our Marathon fundraising efforts.

I am very grateful for your support each year - please know that the money you give always makes a direct impact. This year's gift may perhaps be one of grants that I am most proud of - so thank you!

I hope you are winning the day.

Dear Friends and Family, I…
Dear Friends and Family,

I apologize for the long delay, but I want to sincerely thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal for Project Hope. I completed the 120th Boston Marathon as part of the Project Hope Marathon Team, and it would not have been possible without your generous support.

The day before the marathon, our team had breakfast with some of the families that have been helped by Project Hope. It was so encouraging to hear their stories and realize how far they have come with help from money raised from marathon runners. It was an honor to be part of this team and I cannot thank you enough for your support.

I am back in Burlington and moved into a new apartment this past weekend with five friends from UVM. Please let me know if you’re ever in Burlington – I would love to see you. The area is beautiful with plenty of places to hike, swim, eat – or we can always go for a run! Have a wonderful summer and on behalf of Project Hope, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hello friends - Just wanted…
Hello friends -

Just wanted to send a quick note of thanks prior to tomorrow's big day. It's both energizing and humbling to see how much support I get each year for this crazy ritual.

I am very grateful for your involvement with my race experience and that you've become part of Golf Fights Cancer's ongoing and growing success. We've raised an amazing $215,000 and counting to date - our small little group continues to make quite an impact!

My bib# is 30,970 - I am starting solidly at the back of the pack!

If you want to track my progress, or lack thereof, simply text RUNNER to 234567 using your mobile phone. You will then receive a text response with instructions on how to submit my bib number.

There is also an app you can find here:

Many thanks for all your support. Looking forward to winning the day tomorrow.

Happy Sunday to all my donor…
Happy Sunday to all my donors and supporters! We are 30 days away from the Boston Marathon on Monday April 18th! Here's a quick update on the recent 3 weeks... I'm so humbled to report that together we have raised almost $18,000! That's enough money to stand up 18 entire teams at different schools or provide proper footwear for over 360 young girls from low income situations so they can achieve their dreams through sports! AMAZING! Some of you have even donated more than once in order to get a tax deduction in 2015 AND 2016. So generous! Thank you all!!! $20,000 is within reach! Also, corporate matches continue to roll in. If your company will match your donation, please apply for that now, as these matches can sometimes take up to 60 days to process. Thank you! Now some running updates!! 3 weeks ago we were blessed with a beautiful chilly sunny day to knock out 17 miles. Felt strong and joyful during that one! The next week I was happy to “only run 12” for a “step back” week. Funny to say “only” and “12” in the same sentence…but that’s marathon training for you! Last week I fought through a major chest cold and completed our 18 mile training run. Totally mind over matter! Pure grit and determination (and maybe a touch of stubbornness and pride). :) If I can make it through that, I can DEFINITELY finish the marathon! I’ve developed a minor case of pneumonia (last week’s run prob didn’t help) so I skipped yesterday’s scheduled ½ marathon. Doctor’s orders. Glad I did, as the antibiotics and rest are already helping! Can’t wait to log some more miles this week in preparation for our 20-miler next Saturday! I'm still so humbled and honored to have the chance to run this historical race once again in April and raise awareness for Dream Big! These girls we are helping are so inspirational! The generosity of others has been absolutely astonishing. Thank you ALL for your support! DREAM BIG!

With gratitude, Annette :-)

Well, another Boston Maratho…
Well, another Boston Marathon is in the books and I am incredibly grateful for the experience once again.

I’m grateful that I was able to slog my way through 26.2 miles of cold rain and wind.

I am grateful to be doing this for the 20th time, particularly as one of the fattest guys in the field… and I am most grateful for your involvement with my run and my GFC fundraising efforts.

I’ve shared this before, but to me, the Boston Marathon is a shared ritual that builds community, deepens friendships, and engenders confidence. The experience strengthens bonds, spotlights character, reveals generosity, and affirms the spirit.
I am grateful that you were again part of this marathon experience.

Last year’s marathon was one of a kind and this year’s was too, to be honest. This year’s event to me is the new normal – the traditional marathon feelings of goal setting, accomplishment and shared experience, but amplified with heightened involvement from so many and the renewed importance of this event to the city.

That Golf Fights Cancer has come such a long way since our first steps is a credit to the generous and loyal supporters that have joined our ranks over the years. We raised $150,000 for GFC with this year’s marathon, which is amazing. Specifically, we raised money for Rhabdomyosarcoma research at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana Farber. The monies we raised this year are particularly meaningful to me, as my 6 year old little niece Kiley Sullivan has been fighting this nasty Rhabdo cancer for a year. It's heartbreaking to see so it feels great to try and do something to help.

I plan to run again next year and would love for you to be a part of the experience again. We Run Together.

Double Your Donation to Golf…
Double Your Donation to Golf Fights Cancer

Thank you for supporting TeamGFC’s 2015 Boston Marathon fundraising efforts! We are proud of all 10 team members who have collectively raised $116,500. At this time, we are closing in on our goal of $125,000 and would like to ask for your help in getting there by way of matching gifts.

One in ten gifts are eligible for a corporate match. If all of our eligible supporters submitted their match, we could add approximately $10,000 to the cause! Would you kindly take a moment to follow the link below to verify if your employer (and/or your spouse’s employer) offers such a benefit? If you’ve already submitted your match, thank you!

What is an employer Matching Gift?

Many companies set aside funds each year to match contributions their employees make to qualified non-profit organizations. Most often, the companies match contributions dollar for dollar, and some programs may match at higher ratios!

What do I need to do to get my gift matched?

The employee must initiate the matching gift process. Just contact your HR department to obtain the proper paperwork or website link and submit basic information such as charity name, gift amount and gift date.

How can I verify to my company that GFC can receive charitable contributions?

Golf Fights Cancer is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our EIN number is 34-1987772.

Dear Brett, Thank you so m…
Dear Brett,

Thank you so much for donating to my marathon run on behalf of the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation. Your amazing generosity is so much appreciated! As I watch the donations come in, I am motivated to carry on in this 3rd year of training.

Ramping up the long runs with this epic onslaught of snow has been difficult at best. But knowing that it is providing funds to Special Ops Soldiers, like Glen, keeps me putting one foot in front of the other. As Glen would say, “never quit.” So Heartbreak Hill, here I come!

Please pencil in March 28th for our “thank you” party, 3 weeks prior to the marathon. Not only is it my birthday, but I will have completed my 21 miler that morning. There will be lots to celebrate! Best birthday gift ever is having your continued support for my running and this fantastic cause.

Hope to see you out there on the course one of these weekends. It has certainly been a tough go. We thought last winter was bad!? Again, many thanks for your support. I have not seen your fundraising email yet, so please make sure to forward it along.

Thanks again!

P.S. You can make an even greater impact with your contribution through a matching gift. All forms can be forwarded to me at Thank you!
