Brian SAYS:
Hi All, As Monday is quick…
Hi All,

As Monday is quickly approaching, I wanted to thank everyone for the tremendous support you have given me during my training and fundraising for the The Greater Boston Food Bank. Collectively we raised $6,170 for the GBFB, which will provide 18,510 meals for people who really need them. My initial target was $5,000, so thank you for helping to crush it!

When I started this journey to run the Boston Marathon, my goal was to show that the sense of community we all felt last year was just as alive and strong as it was a year ago. Through this experience I have learned that Boston Strong means we, as a community, run towards those in need. This was true with the first responders during the events of last year, and it remains true with the amazing support you all are showing families and individuals who don't know where their next meal is coming from. We, as a community, are making sure no one goes hungry. Thank you for proving that this community, our community, continues to be Boston Strong.

Many of you have asked how you can track me during the Marathon, so below are the details. If you have questions, please let me know.

o Bib Number: 30435
o Wave: 4
o Start time: ~ 11:30
o Projected end time: ~ 3:30 - 3:45

You will be able to track my progress in two ways:
o Go to BAA.org and use their app to track my progress
o Text my bib number to 345678. (If you did this correctly, you will see my name in the confirmation text)

For those who be on the route, I will be wearing a white GBFB shirt that has my name in big red letters. I will also have a neon yellow running hat. If you would like an autographed photo of me in my outfit before hand, text me or check FB :)

Finally, I want you to know that each of you was with me when I ran seemingly endless miles in harsh winter conditions. There were mornings when I didn't want to get out of bed, and hills that I didn't know if I would be able to climb, but your endless support fueled me and has made this one of the greatest experiences I have ever known. Thank You.

Stuff About Me:

As a young child, I remember watching in awe each April as the Marathon runners braved the long mileage, yet never felt that I had the courage to join their ranks.  The events of last year changed my perspective. Being surrounded by a family full of nurses and civil servants, its not surprising that many of them were among the first responders who were directly involved in the events of that day, as well as in the challenging days that followed.  The strength and resolve that they showed during that time has fueled me in my training over the past few months.

I can’t repay anyone for what they did to help that day, and that is why I have committed to raise $5,000 for the Greater Boston Food Bank, as it is my way to show the sense community we all felt is just as strong as it was one year ago.

One of the major tangible benefits of donating to the GBFB is that you know exactly how your money is being used:  For every $1 dollar you donate, you will provide 3 meals for those in need. To put things in perspective, one in nine residents in eastern Massachusetts is food insecure. With regards to children, that number is as many as one in four.  Being a dad to two beautiful red headed girls, one of which was born in the hours following the Marathon, it scares me to think of them ever having to feel true hunger.  That is why I am asking for your help to support me in reaching this goal:  To never let a member of our community go hungry.
