Motivated by my wife Tracy, I’ve been able to commit myself to a workout regimen over the last three years at Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston. That effort has paid dividends in both health and lifestyle. In large part due to inspiration from my friend Eric Engdahl, I’ve decided to ramp up the stakes and participate in the 2013 Haymakers for Hope, an amateur boxing event dedicated to raising money for cancer research. Eric participated in 2011 in memory of his Mother. I was impressed by his effort and story of personal satisfaction. So I’m going to take on the risk and give it a go.
I made the decision to commit myself in order to make a meaningful contribution to the fight against cancer. My own Mother is a cancer survivor. The care she received was nothing short of miraculous. If she could tough that out, I can surely take on the challenge of Haymakers. So the game is on. I’ve set an aggressive goal to raise $40,000. I know you’d be willing to pay to see me get punched in the face, so I want to ask for your generous support.
If you would like to attend, the event takes place on May 16 at the House of Blues. Last year they had a packed house. Should be a lot of fun.
