BENEFITING: PUBLIC INTEREST LAW CENTER OF PHILADELPHIA
EVENT DATE: Oct 31, 2015
As chair of the Board of Directors, I will be running 13.1 miles to raise money for the Public Interest Law Center on October 31 in conjunction with the Philadelphia Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon. Support me in making a contribution to the Law Center and your gift will be matched $1 for $1!
Each year the Public Interest Law Center (www.pubintlaw.org) helps thousands of people secure access to the basic things people need to get out of poverty including a high-quality education, health care, employment, safe and healthy neighborhoods, housing, and the right to vote. The Law Center uses impact litigation and advocacy to change systems and policies to ensure vulnerable populations in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania can access these fundamental resources. Last year the organization served more than 280,000 individuals.
Please join me in supporting this outstanding organization. Your contribution will help the organization pursue a number of important projects, including:
-a lawsuit against Pennsylvania state officials for failing to adequately and equitably fund public education
-provide legal support to low-income gardeners and farmers in Philadelphia to help them gain access to vacant land to grow food and build community
-litigation and advocacy to ensure hundreds of thousands of children enrolled in Medicaid have access to dental services
-representation of individuals who have been denied employment because of unrelated criminal records or disabilities
-advocacy to modernize Pennsylvania's election system so that all people have easy access to the ballot box
