BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
EVENT DATE: May 05, 2013
I donated the marrow....now, here is how you can help.
This past February at Johns Hopkins, I was blessed to donate 2 liters of my bone marrow to my father, Tom Hopper, who has been fighting to overcome MDS (and celiac disease). Thankfully, the marrow transplant is working in his body and he is on his way to a near full recovery - free from MDS (and celiac!). My dad is one of the fortunate ones, but many others are still fighting, still waiting, still hoping.
Family and friends have been incredibly supportive of my donation, and have inspired me to continue to "donate". So I am dedicating my 2013 races to raising funds to help fight blood cancer. The Pittsburgh half is my first 'fundraising' race of the year.
I hope you'll join me in supporting the effort to help those who are suffering from and working to cure blood cancer. Thanks so much for considering to donate.
