The Goldie B. Floberg Center has been Brian's home and community for the past 9 years. Their mission is to enrich and empower the lives of all people served. Their dedication to his growth, well-being, health, and happiness is a blessing in Brian and our family's lives.
Due to uncertainty with the Illinois state budget, programs like LEEP are at risk. We hope to raise money for this organization that keeps Brian and other special humans learning and exploring!
Brian became an adult this year at the age of 22, qualifying him for the adult learning service Goldie offers - LEEP (Learning, Enrichment and Empowerment Program). We were worried about the transition from Brian's school program to a new program, but were all ears when he came home excited to tell us about his LEEP experience with "SNAAAAAAAAKES! EW!"
In addition to giving the adults interactive experiences with snakes, LEEP offers an open learning environment with different learning opportunities for all - playing musical instruments, gardening, yoga, exercise classes, science, computer classes, cooking classes, and art classes are offered as well as life skills training. Programs like these are essential to improving the quality of life within our special needs community!
