Brian's Surgery Mission in Peru with Mending Kinds Intl.
Organized by: Brian Quach
EVENT DATE Aug 10, 2015
My name is Brian Quach, an ex-management consultant working in corporate strategy, hoping to benefit the world by improving the operations of organizations that have a positive impact! A couple of months ago, I became am an adviser to the surgical care non-profit, Mending Kids International, and will join their surgery team on a surgery mission to Peru.
WHAT IS BRIAN GOING TO DO?
The primary goals for my work in Peru are twofold: 1. to examine the mission's operational efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement (this drives mission costs down and effective funding dollars up); 2. to assess how our program services can more effectively be communicated through a variety of new marketing material (e.g., social media) in accordance with the Mending Kid's brand. I also will be providing clerical work for the surgery team at the hospitals, as well as organizing performing arts workshops for the children and medical education workshops for the greater community.
WHAT ARE THE FUNDS GOING TO?
Donation funds will be completely allocated to the direct cost of this specific surgery mission, including the cost of surgeries and other medical operations/administration as well as the large amount of medical supplies and equipment we will be taking from America directly to the hospitals. As an adviser, I have full transparency to where the funding dollars go to. Please contact me if you require further details.
WHAT WILL YOU GET?
As a token of my appreciation, I will give each donor of $20 and over a recollection of my journey with Mending Kids. To the best of my ability, I will document the towns we visit, the children we administer surgery to, and the lives we improve during our mission. I hope to bring awareness not just to the myriad of medical problems common in developing nations, but also to the personal stories of those affected. During my recollection, I will be reflecting on a book called "Altruism" by the renown French-Buddhist Monk, Mattieu Ricard. I wish to share some meaningful insight as to why everyone can and should cultivate worldwide altruism and compassion.
