BENEFITING: Boomer Esiason Foundation
Brian McCandless is originally from Butler, Pennsylvania and currently teaches Health and Physical Education in Vero Beach, Florida. Ever since being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) as an infant, many said he would never be able to exercise; he would slowly suffocate; and he would never live long enough to graduate high school. A fire grew inside of him while he refused to be limited by other’s expectations. Brian used this fire to drive him beyond just living with CF and became a spokesperson for the disease. He created Brian’s Ride to inspire those who are living with CF, educate the public about the impact of CF, and raise money for the CF community.
Brian’s Ride not only inspires and benefits the CF community but also helps Brian to stay committed to his health. His dedication to use exercise, nutrition and medication has allowed him to manage the many complications of CF but THERE IS NO CURE. Brian’s only cure is his drive to never slow down long enough for CF to catch him.
Brian’s Ride 2015
On Saturday June 13th 2015, Brian looks to gain national coverage by cycling over 3,400 miles from San Francisco, California to Annapolis, Maryland. After covering 100 miles a day, the Brian's Ride team will stop in major cities to inspire and educate through telling Brian's story of triumph. The team will hold fundraisers and except donations before and during the ride to benefit the CF community. Corporate sponsors will receive recognition of their support by placement on our website, jerseys and support van.
