Bridge from Ukraine
Organized by: Heather Boldon
Despite the many hurdles, setbacks & the slow passage of time, there is a boy who holds out hope. He has his few belongings set aside, ready to put in a common shopping bag & leave behind the orphanage forever.
I've been in Ukraine for a few weeks now, meeting with officials, signing documents, trying to keep everything moving & putting up a brave front. The week before I was to travel to Ukraine, I joined the ranks of the unemployed. With no income, covering the final expenses has been nearly impossible.
My mother's savings is all but gone, there are final expenses owing before we can leave the country of $1700. Then there's the issue of actually leaving...I honestly have no idea where I'm going to scrape the money together to cover the cost of our airfare home!
