WELCOME and thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
Studies indicate that 100% of students who do not engage in learning over the summer experience learning loss. For instance, after a summer without learning, a student can experience a 2.6 month set-back in math and a 2 month set-back in spelling.
Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice (SLJ), a local NYC high school educating students from underserved neighborhoods in Brooklyn, offers its students numerous enrichment and learning opportunities, so they can stay engaged during the summer months.
This year the Jr. Board is raising funds to support programs that help prevent "Summer Melt."
To be in the halls and meet the SLJ students and staff, it's easy to see that SLJ is a really special New York City high school.
I first learned about the SLJ in 2004. Over the years I have coordinated and served as a member of the mentoring program, volunteered as a tutor on Saturday mornings, co-chaired young professional events and presently serve on the Jr. Board.
It is so important to me to help ensure that students are provided with equal access to education and that we all do our part to continue working to close the achievement gap.
I hope you will decide to donate to SLJ!
I can't thank you enough for your support!
