BENEFITING: Livestrong Foundation
EVENT DATE: Aug 17, 2014
On August 17th, I will be attempting to take on the challenge affectionetly known as Ironman 70.3 - Timberman in Gilford, NH. This distance and series of disciplines will be my hardest physical challenge to date.
My goal in doing this is to succesfully race to raise awareness for The Livestrong Foundation, a truly remarkable charity that supports numerous platforms for healthcare wellness and medical care for a variety of disease prevention, preparation and procedures. Funds raised for Livestrong are directed to finance healthcare initiatives to assist research, educational programs, and support systems for patients and there loved ones.
This fight against cancer and healthcare wellness is personal to me. In October, 10 years will have passed since my Grandmother Kitty passed away from diabetes. In May of this year, my Grandmother Bridie lost her five year battle with colon cancer, a battle she fought with everything she had. Together, these two women embodied the "will to win" and were determined to combat their illnesses with every strength of their being. I will race to remember my two "Iron Women".
I hope that if you are able, you will make a donation on behalf of Bridie and Kitty, to raise funds which will be donated to The Livestrong Foundation. I have supported this charity over the past few years and have been lucky enough to visit their offices in Austin, Texas. I have witnessed first-hand the impact of their efforts, made entirely possible by generous donations, like the one I hope you will make.
This fight is personal.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
