EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Wow! I can’t believe this is actually happening. If you were to tell me a year ago that I would be preparing for the 2015 Boston Marathon I would have laughed uncontrollably. Running wasn’t even a word in my vocabulary a year ago. But here I am!!! It’s evident that a lot has changed in a year, a lot of good things at that!
If you wish you can follow my journey to 26.2 on my blog at: https://gregruns2015.wordpress.com/
I am so happy and proud to be running the Boston Marathon for Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The work that the Research Centers at the Brigham do is absolutely amazing and I am thrilled to be doing something that will help continue that world renowned research. I chose to run for BWH and the work they do in cancer research because too many people I know, family and friends, have seen their fair share of battles with this horrible disease. Some of those people happily and joyfully won their battle, while others have sadly fallen victim.
While I am no research scientist and am not able to find methods of treatment and prevention, I know I can put one foot in front of the other and raise money by doing so. If by running 26.2 miles that means that the money I raise goes towards continuing the efforts in the fight against cancer, then by all means I am going to do everything in my power to do it! I am going to run for the father battling cancer and for the opportunity for him to see his children graduate high school, then college and his grandson being born. I am going to run for the boy who so desperately wanted to see his grandmother one more time on Christmas, but couldn’t. I am going to run for the families who still laugh and celebrate with survivors, and I am going to run for those who grieve at a life gone too soon.
Thank you so much for your donation to this wonderful cause.

A proud partner with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is excited to present two exceptional Boston Marathon teams this year: our core BWH Marathon Team, which supports life-giving breakthroughs across all disciplines and disease areas at the hospital; and the Stepping Strong Marathon Team, initiated by a Boston Marathon bombing survivor, which fuels innovative research and clinical programs in trauma healing and limb reconstruction at BWH. Since 1998, our BWH Marathon Team has raised more than $6.6 million to support world-class patient-centered care, groundbreaking research, community programs, and education for the next generation of healthcare leaders. Thank you for supporting this transformational work.
