BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Two years ago, one of my closest friends from high school, Gillian Reny, was one of the many innocent bystanders critically injured in the Boston Marathon bombings. Gillian was standing near the finish line with her parents, waiting for her sister Danielle to cross. After the first bomb went off, Gillian was rushed to the Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH), where doctors and nurses worked heroically to save her life, and both of her legs. Gillian is currently loving her sophomore year at UPenn and continues on the long road to recovery.
Inspired by Gillian's resilience, and forever grateful to the Brigham & Women's Hospital team that saved her life, the Reny family established the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Fund to fuel innovative research in trauma healing and limb reconstruction.
In honor of Gillian and the BWH team that saved her life, I have committed to running the Boston Marathon this spring and raising $7,500 for the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Fund. I am asking for your support in this cause, to help others like Gillian regain their strength, mobility, and spirit in order to step strong once again.
Thank you so much for your support! It means a lot to me, as Gillian is one of my closest friends from high school and I am so proud of her and everything she has endured in the past two years.
