BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I could not be more excited to run the Boston Marathon this year as a part of the Brigham and Women's Hospital Team. Not only do I love the Brigham, but I am excited to take on the challenge of training and running a marathon!
As you may know, I am running for chartiy and could REALLY use your help! Please, please, please help me reach my fundraising goal and achieve one of my lifetime dreams, to run the marathon.
I was born on a cold February night in Czestochowa, Poland. My mom claims that my eyes were wide open as soon as I entered the world, immediately ready for adventure and to take life by it's horns. (I think that is the expression?) Unfortunately, somewhere along my newborn journey, my severe hip dysplasia was missed, and not discovered until I was close to 1 and could not crawl. At this point, few doctors in Poland and even the United States thought I would ever be able to walk, nevertheless run. Yet, it was my fearless Mom who searched far and wide to find a clinic that would help me get 100% better. Various crazy Polish contraptions were used and despite bleak hopes, I ultimately started to get better. Despite my delay in walking, I ended up playing varsity sports in high school (lacrosse, volleyball, and basketball) and being a collegiate ballroom dancer at Georgetown.
To me, running this marathon is truly part of my American Dream.
Looking for a less sappy story...?
Well, my wife Kailin is a serious runner. Kailin, pictured in one of the attached photographs with me attempting to run by her side, ran the Boston Marathon in2012, time: 2:48...WOW. So part of why I want to run, is to chase her on our training runs and to prove that I can do this!
So again, if you can (and any amount is helpful). Please, help me out! I have a lofty goal ahead of me (both in fundraising and in training throughout this winter), so any support is greatly appreciated!!!
