BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I am so proud and excited to say that I am running in my first marathon—the 2015 Boston Marathon. I will be running for Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Life Giving Breakthroughs team to help campaign for the future of medicine. I personally have many daily encounters with life giving breakthroughs at work, and I can see how important it is for medical advancement through research, medical training, and clinical care. I observe the detrimental, sometimes fatal effects that heart disease can have on patients and it takes a combined effort to help contribute to fight for a cure. I take great pride in caring for patients in my work as a cardiac nurse, and I am more than thrilled to be able to give back on a more personal level.
I am inspired by both patients and by BWH to create opportunities to fundraise for the research that could help improve the lives of over 5.1 million people affected by heart disease. With your help, being able to give my patients the gifts of BWH’s research is an incredible feeling that I will be resonating across the 2015 Boston Marathon finish line.
The time to give is now as we transform the future of medicine with Life Giving Breakthroughs. To learn more about the different advancements BWH is researching please click the link below. Hope to see you on the course!

A proud partner with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is excited to present two exceptional Boston Marathon teams this year: our core BWH Marathon Team, which supports life-giving breakthroughs across all disciplines and disease areas at the hospital; and the Stepping Strong Marathon Team, initiated by a Boston Marathon bombing survivor, which fuels innovative research and clinical programs in trauma healing and limb reconstruction at BWH. Since 1998, our BWH Marathon Team has raised more than $6.6 million to support world-class patient-centered care, groundbreaking research, community programs, and education for the next generation of healthcare leaders.
