BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Greetings from an impressively cold Boston!
I am very excited to tell you that I am running the Boston Marathon again this year on April 20. I am running for the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) Marathon Team again to raise support for the life-giving breakthroughs that make me proud to work at BWH.
The experience of running the Marathon for the BWH team last year was nothing short of inspirational. It was a celebration of resiliency, of the perseverance of the human spirit, and clearly was also a major step in healing for our city. We were overcoming fear and insecurity. I believe it was also a celebration of solidarity with people who live in that kind of fear and insecurity everyday.
Everyday I work for BWH, I am inspired by the institution’s commitment to:
- train global surgeons to address the needs of destitute injured and sick people the world over
- partner with Rwanda, Haiti and numerous other countries to rebuild their health systems and human resources for health
- support their faculty and staff to engage in this work
- provide excellent care to our acute surgical and trauma patients in Boston, and to continuously seek to make that care safer, more effective, and more compassionate
And these are just a few of my favorite things about BWH that inspire me every day.
My ask (like last year): I am looking for 100 people to give $100 to help to get to our target of 100% health equity – that is to ensure that one day 100% of people who need life saving surgical care will get it 100% of the time, no matter where in our city or where in the world they live.
Please consider giving any amount that you can.
Thank you for your support!
