BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
My name is Taylor Walton. On April 20th, 2015, I will take on my third full marathon, and the greatest marathon in the world, The Boston Marathon. I would like to honor this famous race with my final fundraising effort to raise money for the Boston Hospitals: Brigham and Women’s, Boston Children’s, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. A lot of us know someone who has been treated at one of these amazing hospitals and I would like to dedicate my race to all those who inspire me to put my best foot forward. Also, as many of you may know, Brigham and Women’s Hospital is currently mourning the loss of their Director of Endovascular Cardiac Surgery, Dr. Michael J. Davidson, due to a shooting that took place at the hospital on January 20th, 2015. This tragedy, along with the Boston Marathon bombing that took place on April 15th, 2013, have also inspired me to participate in this marathon. Lastly, I will be running in honor of Ronald Martin who was a friend to all and role model to so many. He was a sarcoma patient at Brigham and Women's Hospital and recently lost his courageous battle with cancer. It is with great honor that I participate in this "Run for Ron". My goal is to raise at least $7,500 for these three hospitals, and with the help of you I will be able to do it!
My other fundraising events include the New York Marathon and the Hartford Marathon. I ran the New York Marathon last November on Team Petit. With the help of many supporting family members, friends, and customers where I work, I raised $3,000 for the Petit Family Foundation. I also ran the Hartford Marathon in October 2013 and my team raised money to fulfill a dream come true for a terminal pediatric heart patient to go to Disney World to dance with her sisters in Magic Kingdom as their parents looked on. I am excited to continue my fundraising efforts for these three amazing Boston hospitals and I thank you for your generosity and support.
