We’re traveling again this year to San Ramon Nicaragua on May 31 to June 8th in support of Corner of Love and the impoverished people of northern Nicaragua via our Brighter Life mission trip. This will be our 3rd year with many more to come; each year we find ourselves looking forward to this mission as a way to ground our hectic lives, serve our lord, and truly help these people in need.
Deanna and I have continued to increase our involvement in Corner of Love as an organization; we are now co-leaders of the Monument, Colorado chapter and Steve now sits on the board of directors. As we have become more involved with the leadership of this organization we continue to be impressed with their vision and relentless efforts to provide immediate and then sustaining healthcare via clean drinking water to these people in need.
I hope you will consider making a donation to our brighter life mission, every dollar you donate will go directly to the people of northern Nicaragua.
- $10 will provide a pair of shoes allowing a child to attend school
- $100 will provide 132 people parasite medications (Mebendazole/Albendazole) preventing intestinal worms for 6 months
- $500 provides a med-pack filled with essential medications bought at cost (retail value $10,000) that provides medical needs for ~1,500 Nicaraguans.
Every dollar helps, please consider assisting these people in need.
Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the western hemisphere behind Haiti. In Northern Nicaragua the people that reside in the small villages live on less than $1 per day. There is no access to healthcare or clean drinking water. Corner of Love has a long-term commitment to fix this. The Monument chapter of Corner of Love is traveling to San Ramon, Nicaragua for a “Brighter Life” mission trip this year. We will be splitting into two teams setting up medical and dental clinics in 8 different villages to give needed healthcare to the poorest people in the region. Because there is no accessible healthcare, small ailments can be catastrophic. An infection that we would easily solve with antibiotics from the local pharmacy can be deadly. Someone has to help these people! That is what we are committed to do.
In addition, we will be distributing school shoes to the children that can't afford them. It is Nicaraguan law that children have certain approved shoes in order to go to school. Many families in the outlying villages cannot afford shoes for all of their children. Sometimes parents are faced with sending only one of their children to school. This is a terrible situation for all them. Children that cannot go to school have no chance of breaking the cycle of poverty. We are committed to making sure that 500 kids get to go to school that otherwise wouldn't on this “Brighter Life” mission!
God smiles when we all work together to serve the less fortunate; thank you so much for your generosity!
